You've spent your whole life translating yourself. Therapy that finally doesn't require that.
Depth therapy for Filipino Americans, Asian Americans, and those navigating life between cultures.
About Therese
I'm Therese Soco, a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in California and New York, specializing in Filipino American and Asian American mental health.
I offer individual therapy and walk & talk outdoor sessions in Cupertino and the Silicon Valley area.
Having grown up in the Philippines and later lived in New York City and California, I bring a deep understanding of cultural identity, migration, intergenerational trauma, and life transitions to my work, particularly with BIPOC, first-generation, and immigrant clients.
My approach is grounded in Jungian depth psychology. I am bilingual in English and Tagalog.
““We are not here to fit in, be well balanced, or provide exempla for others. We are here to be eccentric, different, perhaps strange, perhaps merely to add our small piece, our little clunky, chunky selves, to the great mosaic of being… we are here to become more and more ourselves.””
My Approach
As a psychotherapist, it’s deeply important to me to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and understood. I believe that a compassionate and attuned relationship can be profoundly healing, especially in the places where you feel stuck.
I work from a relational and psychodynamic orientation, and I pay close attention to how past experiences, family dynamics, cultural context, and unconscious patterns influence your present life. My work is influenced by Jungian psychology, and I enjoy depth-oriented, exploratory work, incorporating techniques such as dream work and active imagination to engage with the unconscious. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and take a mind-body approach, recognizing that emotional insight is often accompanied by the wisdom of the body.
I believe that insight is only the beginning, and that meaningful change happens when reflection is followed by intentional action. I invite clients to not only explore their inner world but to embody that awareness in their daily lives, moving toward a more authentic, integrated, and meaningful way of being.

My Practice and Services Offered
Virtual Individual Psychotherapy
I work with adults in individual psychotherapy. I do not offer couples therapy at this time. My practice is fully remote and sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant video platform.
Walk & Talk Therapy
Therapy doesn't have to happen behind a screen or within four walls.
Walk & Talk therapy is an alternative to traditional sessions where we meet in person and conduct our work while walking outdoors such as along a trail, through a park, in the open air. Movement can loosen what stillness sometimes holds tight, and many clients find it easier to access and process difficult feelings when they're in motion and out in nature. I offer these outdoor therapy sessions in the Cupertino area for clients who want to bring more of the body and the natural world into their healing work. This format pairs naturally with depth-oriented, Jungian therapy. There's something about walking that invites reflection, loosens defenses, and opens us to what we might not access sitting still.
